Yes, that’s right, we updated our MULTI Patch! Originally, our intent with the smiley MULTI Patch is to remind everyone that acne is normal and we want to bring a smile to all your faces! As we’ve mentioned, our products are inspired by our community, aka YOU. We’d done a ton of research with our DotCom community as well as our Instagram fam and as per the results, the MULTI Patch got an upgrade!

WHY DID WE UPDATE OUR PATCH?!

Based on a survey we did with our community, the struggle of acne came in first place with 34.5% of you dealing with acne which is why we started with a pimple patch to begin with! However, after further research, we really noticed a gap in the market as we were looking for hydrocolloid patches ourselves! No pimple patches on the market have postbiotics!

WHAT DID WE CHANGE?!

Before we get into the juicy stuff, let's talk about actives. When it comes to skincare an active ingredient is one that targets a specific skin concern such as hydration, hyperpigmentation, or acne. You might have heard of common actives like alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) (eg. lactic acid), retinoids (eg. retinol), or plant extracts. The major difference between the MULTI Patch and the MULTI PATCH 2.0, is the addition of active ingredients.

Active #1:  This is one that you probably haven’t heard of–but it’s literally game changing. It’s called lactobacillus ferment extract, a postbiotic based ingredient that is exactly as it sounds, a carefully crafted fermentation of lactobacillus. It is one of the species of microorganisms that are used to make kimchi (shout out to our Korean food lovers!) from cabbage. But what can it do for your SKIN tho? Well, the answer is, a LOT, but to keep it short and sweet it can:

  • Help promote a healthy balance of bacteria on the skin
  • Moisturize
  • Act as an antifungal
  • Reduce the appearance of dark spots

Active #2: Peppermint extract. Peppermint is one that you probably know and love, and it’s the second star in the MULTI Patch 2.0. Topical applications of this are known to help with inflammation and calm irritation. Apart from applying it to your skin, the peppermint herb has also been used medicinally for centuries to help with issues like nausea or the common cold (et. al Balakrishnan, Aishwarya, Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research).

TRIED AND TRUE

Before even trying the 2.0, I was genuinely intrigued by the story behind the active ingredients, especially the postbiotic. Postbiotic for an acne patch is unique, so I was excited to try it. When I first got the package, opening it up alone was an enjoyable experience (like Christmas hehe). Before using the patch I made sure to wash my hands and face, and dry it thoroughly. Then I applied it to the pimple on my forehead and let it stay for 8 hours. I must admit I was nervous to have it on in public but I actually got complimented on it, the patch actually made people smile!

The final verdict is my white head was definitely gone after the 8 hours (see the after photo), which SHOULD be expected but patches from other brands have failed (no shade!). In addition, the inflammation also went down along with tenderness.

While I had the patch on, I literally forgot it was there until I touched my face. Speaking of that, the patch helps to prevent further bacteria contact in that way. I couldn’t touch my pimple even if I wanted to!

In my experience, pimple patches that I have used have almost always been a bit annoying to have on. Sometimes they were even a bit itchy or irritating, which I didn't experience with the 2.0. Personally, the effectiveness of other patches also lacked in terms of reducing the appearance of inflammation or white heads.
